Did Napoleon and Louis XV make monumental decisions by the flickering light of a Cire Trudon candle? This is highly likely since this French company, founded in 1643, had a cult following including Louis XV and Napoleon because of Cire Trudon’s unique style. Itâs a startling thought to see the same thing that they might have seen back then
Since 2007, Cire Trudon turned their focus onto crafting fragranced wax candles, and while their manufacturing processes may have evolved, the companyâs passion and attention to detail has gone unwavered.
With their wax replicas of busts by famous sculptors, Cire Trudon has created some fascinating objects for your home. In keeping with their origins each one comes with a wick, paying homage to the primary function of a candle, although the busts are usually meant to be collected rather than consumed.
Cire Trudon’s tribute to the Sun King, Louis X1V is impressive. The king, a proud, contemptuous look on his face, was immortalized in a sculpture by François Girardon (1699), the âLouis XIV Ă chevalâ took centre stage in Place VendĂŽme before the statue was raised to the ground, in 1792, during the French revolution. Today a resident of the MusĂ©e du Louvre, the bust still stands tall, reproduced in a smaller scale. An iconic royal figure and messenger of âlâart Ă la françaiseâ, Louis XIV now looks over Cire Trudonâs collection of busts.
It adds a regal air to every home.
