Every home needs a Foo Dog, also known as a Guardian Lion – a mythical creature, which symbolises prosperity and success while guarding against unsavoury outside influences. Jonathan Adler’s Wicker Foo Dog is a true labour of love. It’s all about the attention to detail with each creature woven into life by a single artisan over a course of four days. First the reeds are hand-soaked and woven, then an additional two days are spent trimming and sanding the sculpture by hand. Each piece is then coated with a clear lacquer to enhance the natural rattan colouring. And just like that your Foo Dog comes to life
